First things first, I'm grateful for being a mom to Coco, Louie and Max. In addition, I graduated as a Master in Midwifery at the Catholic University of Leuven (2009). I also obtained my diploma as certified Trainer Hormone Factor in Utrecht (2020). After 12 years of clinical midwifery experience at the University Hospital of Leuven's maternity ward, I've chosen to continue building my dreams as a dedicated practitioner, and established Huis van Meraki. Huis van Meraki offers a healthy and strong foundation for every woman and her family. A foundation of trust, happiness and connection.

Furthermore, I work as a part-time academician at the UCLL University of Applied Sciences in Leuven under the midwifery program, where I can pass on my passion for this profession to younger generations.

At the moment when I became a mother of our third child Adriaan, I was blessed to experience the wise, warm and loving care of the midwives. At that time, I was already training as a midwife in Brussels, and this experience gave me the strength and inspiration to become a home care midwife myself.

For me, it is important to take the time to get to know you, and to provide dedicated care to you and your family, scientifically-based, and with great respect for everyone's individuality. Getting pregnant, giving birth ... these are truly important moments in every woman's life, and it also contain many opportunities. Especially opportunities to work on your own health and thus lay a healthy foundation for your family, to connect with yourself, your partner and your child. I will be happy to help you experiencing this process in a relaxed, conscious and natural manner.

I became a midwife in 2007, and in 2010 I obtained a Master's degree in sexology at the Catholic University of Leuven. I have been working in the maternity ward of the University Hospital in Leuven ever since. In 2012, I became a proud mom myself. At this time, I was able to experience in and around myself that many fresh parents have it difficult and are looking for a new balance in life. In 2018, after the birth of our third child, I have chosen to study to become a postpartum consultant. In due course, I have been deepening myself in the topic of mental health.

I assist parents through active conversations during this vulnerable period of young parenthood. Together, we take small steps until you come closer to yourself, and closer to your personal goals, more peace and balance in your life. Taking good care of yourself is also taking good care of your baby.

I am Elke, mother of Finn and Milla, friend of Rik.

Daughter, sister, wife, friend, mother and midwife in heart and soul and with passion. That is 40 years of life experience, almost 13 years of experience as a mother, 18 years of experience as a midwife in various domains: 10 years of hospital experience in the delivery room and maternity, 4 years within a large primary midwifery practice in pre- and postnatal (home) care and now in my fourth year as an independent midwife.

That's a lot of years, a lot of babies that I had the pleasure of seeing being born, and with them a lot of women and men that I saw becoming mommy and daddy.

There was a lot of searching during those years, looking for how I can bring out the best midwife in myself, what makes me warm, what I would most like to pass on to pregnant couples, newborn babies, moms and dads.

What makes my (midwife's) heart beat faster? What makes me start to buzz...? That is intense, but also very beautiful, searching in life and getting more and more to the heart of the matter.

As a midwife, I like to embrace the entire process. From the idea of becoming pregnant, to being pregnant, labor and delivery and the first days, weeks, months, year(s) with a child.

I prefer to work very personally, one on one, with you on your wishes, dreams, perhaps even fears around this phase of life. I am happy to provide advice and assistance, I encourage, confirm, coach. I tell, listen and feel, let it happen, carry along and let go when everything falls into place.

I would love to walk with you for a while, along the sidelines, during this crazy intense period in your lives.
